Although great progress has been and is being made to make school meals and vending choices healthier, we have a long way to go. Barriers are many, the two biggest of which are funding and a misunderstanding of the term “healthy.” The old ways of thinking need to be corrected. The greatest need for healthy choices, unfortunately, is in the places where folks can least afford to provide or choose them. Therefore, we have our work cut out for us. Let’s start by educating those in charge of menu choices, and working to help in any other way we can.
